Woman found dead in Kanpur

A 32-year-old woman was found dead in her car in the wee hours today at Panki area here, police said.

According to a complaint filed by woman's husband Piyush Shyam Dasani, his wife Jyoti and he were returning home after having dinner at a restaurant when about eight to ten persons on bikes overtook their car.

One of the motorcycles hit Piyush's car, leading to a clash between both sides, police said, adding, the riders beat up Piyush and abducted his wife.

They also took the car along with them, the complaint said.

Jyoti's body was found in the car with multiple stab wounds in the wee hours today, they said.
 

However, police suspect involvement of someone close to the victim and alleged that her husband has lodged a false complaint of abduction.

Piyush did not call the police immediately after the incident and instead came to the police station with his family one and a half hour later to file the complaint, IG Kanpur, Ashutosh Pandey said.

He, however said that police could not find any marks of force on the victim's body, adding, the alleged accused did not do any harm to the car also.

The police also said that according to Piyush's statement, he was beaten up by the bikers but there were no injury marks on his body.

However, no arrest has been made so far and the police is investigating the case from all angles, the IG said.
