A 30-year-old woman allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself from the ceiling fan at her residence in Jafrabad area of east Delhi.
The woman was identified as Poonam who lived with her family in Jafrabad area, police said, adding that the reason behind her extreme step is yet to be ascertained as no suicide note was found from the spot.
The incident was reported last evening when her family members found her hanging from the ceiling fan of her room.
"Around 7.30 pm, Poonam was found hanging by her family members. She was rushed to a nearby hospital where she was declared dead on arrival," a police officer said.
As per initial investigation, it seems that she might have taken such step due to family dispute, the officer said.
"We have not recovered any suicide note from the spot. Police are investigating the case from all angles. Police are also questioning her parents to get some leads in the case and further investigation is on," he added.
