The body of a 30-year-old woman was her throat slit was found at her house, that was locked from outside in outer Delhi's Mangolpuri area.

The deceased has been identified as Pushpa. Her husband Anil returned home last evening from work and found that the house was locked, police said.

He thought that his wife must have gone out to buy household items and began to wait for her. When the wait grew longer, he tried to reach her on her cell phone, but it was found switched off, they added.

The couple's son also came there and told his father that he had been asked by Pushpa to go to their tenant's house since she had to step out for some work, they said.

Anil searched the nearby market and neighbours' houses for Pushpa but she couldn't be traced, they said.

Later, he tried to open the window and saw a glimpse of Pushpa but when he shouted her name, there was no response, police said.

He made a PCR call and the cops broke down the door and found Pushpa's body, they added.

The body was sent for post-mortem and after the autopsy, was handed over to family members.

The accused hasn't yet been identified even though it's suspected that someone known to the deceased had committed the murder.

There were no signs of a forced entry in the house.

Few people have been detained in connection with the murder, they added.
