A 27-year-old woman was found strangled in her house near local urban estate at Phagwara in Kapurthala district, police said today.

The deceased, identified as Kamaljit alias Paramjit Pammi, had her limbs tied with rope and mouth stuffed with a piece of cloth. Her neck was found twisted and broken, and it appeared that she was strangulated, police said.

They said the murder evidently took place on the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday.

Pammi had three marriages. She was first married to one Darshan Lal of Badala village over four years ago. After a divorce, she tied knot with Deepa of Samrai village and then married NRI Jaswinder Singh who is currently settled in Dubai, police said.

She was living in Jaswinder's Low Income Group (LIG) quarter along with their two year old son.

Police said Darshan had an altercation with her and former husband Deepa few days ago. A case has been registered on the basis of suspicion against her former husband Darshana under Section 302 (murder) of IPC.
