A woman tourist from Himachal Pradesh was found killed at a plush hotel in Goa with police suspecting her absconding husband's involvement in the crime, an official said on Sunday.

Alka Saini, who belonged to Himachal Pradesh, and her husband checked into the hotel, located at Arpora beach village in North Goa district, on April 20, Anjuna police station inspector Navlesh Desai said.

Saini's body was found on Saturday when the hotel's maintenance staff entered the room to clean it, he said.

"The woman's throat was found slit," he said.

Her husband was absconding and a search for him was underway, Desai said, refusing to divulge any further details and the suspect's identity.
