Woman from Pune becomes 144th swine flu victim in Indore

A 57-year-old woman succumbed to swine flu here today, taking the total number of fatalities due to the H1N1 virus in the city to 144 since January.

"The woman from Pune in Maharashtra had come to Indore to celebrate Rakshabandhan festival. After she fell ill, she was admitted to a private hospital on September 3," Integrated Disease Surveillance Project (IDSP) district in charge Dr G L Sodhi said.

"However, during the treatment, she tested positive for swine flu," he added.

According to Sodhi, 502 people had been tested positive for HINI in the city since January this year, of whom, the deadly virus has claimed 144 lives.
