Woman, granddaughter killed in road mishap

A 42-year-old woman and her infant granddaughter were killed after the tractor-trolley in which they were travelling was hit from behind by a speeding private passenger bus on Atru road in Baran today.

Police said the accident took place around 9.30 AM near Barabanki village in Baran city Kotwali police station area.

The deceased were identified as Kanti Meghwal, a resident of Khori village of Atru area of Baran district, and her one-and-a-half-month-old granddaughter.

The woman was travelling with her son and daughter-in-law and granddaughter.

Police have lodged a case of negligent driving against the bus driver who fled from the spot after the mishap.
 

The private passenger bus has been seized and efforts were on to nab the driver.
