Woman hangs self in Anantapur

A 22-year-old woman allegedly committed suicide today by hanging herself at her residence here, police said.

The deceased, identified as Meenakshi, allegedly hanged herself from a ceiling fan at her house in Srinivasnagar here in the wee hours, Three Town Police Station circle inspector Anjaneyulu said.

According to preliminary investigation, the woman was pursing MBBS degree but dropped out after her marriage. She had an altercation with her husband Sreenivasulu (34) after which she took the extreme step.

Later, the husband took the woman to General Hospital here where she was declared brought dead by the doctors, the officer said, adding, Sreenivasulu left the body unattended at hospital's mortuary.
 

"The deceased's parents live in abroad and their address is yet to traced out. There are no other kin to get more information or who can file a case into the matter. However, we are taking help from mandal revenue officer to register a case," he said.

Police is trying to trace the woman's husband.
