A woman was today arrested from the city's Metiabruz area for her alleged involvement in the killing of her 8-year-old brother-in law, police said.
She was taken into custody after she confessed to killing Raju Das by pressing down the lid of a drum in which the boy was taking a bath.
Police on Friday had found the boy's body inside a water filled drum kept in the bathroom of his residence at Paharpur Road in Metiabruz area, a senior police officer said.
"The initial autopsy report revealed that the boy died due to drowning," he said.
The woman last night admitted killing the boy to her husband who reported the matter to the police.
During questioning, the woman said she had been nursing a grudge against Raju since her father-in-law used to love him more than her husband, the IPS officer said.
A case was registered on the basis of the complaint of the woman's husband.
