While holding Premwati, a resident of Khijrabad village near Friends Colony, guilty of kidnapping her neighbour Niranjan Singh's son, Additional Sessions Judge Madhu Jain absolved her alleged male accomplice Gajraj of the charges of kidnapping.

"Prosecution has been able to prove this fact on record that kidnapped child was taken away by accused Premwati without the consent of his father," said the court, while convicting Premwati.

The court, however, absolved Premwati of the stringent charges of kidnapping the boy for ransom as the police was not able to prove that she raised any demand of ransom to release the boy.

The case against Premwati was registered by the police here on May 29, 2010 on Singh's complaint that his son had been kidnapped by her and she had called him up from Patna on phone to inform that his son was there with her.

Premwati was arrested in Patna and Singh's son was recovered from her.

In her defence, Premwati had contended before the court that she had taken away the child with Singh's consent as he wanted to implicate Gajraj in kidnapping of his son, but the court rejected her claim saying she was not able to substantiate it.
