Woman held in cheating case

have arrested a woman in the city for cheating several persons by taking money from them offering plots under the Bengaluru Development Authority (BDA).

The arrested woman was Gowri Suhas, staying at a flat in Kala Kunj in the city for the last two years. A case had been filed against Gowri, her husband and others in the fraud case registered at the Tilaknagar police station in Bengaluru.

A total of seven persons were accused in the case and were facing charges under IPC sections 420, 465, 471 and 478, police said. Gowri's mother Meera Padiyar is the first accused in the case and Gowri, the sixth accused.
 

Police said they had taken money from several persons to the tune of Rs 3 Crore promising them to provide sites under BDA after claiming that they had top connections with influential persons.

Meera Padiyar, the arrested woman's mother was facing financial difficulties after the failure of a Konkani movie she produced from Bengaluru, Police said.

Meera had already been arrested, while Gowri's husband Suhas and others were absconding, police said.
