Woman held in death of ex-Cong MP's daughter-in-law

The fourth accused in the suspicious death of former Congress MP S Rajaiah's daughter-in-law Sarika and three of his grandsons last week here was arrested today, police said.

The accused, a woman named Sana, was detained for questioning by police from a village in adjoining Khammam district a few days ago.

She was formally arrested today and produced before a city-based magistrate's court, which sent her to judicial custody till November 27, police said, adding Sana has been lodged in Warangal Central Jail.

The three other accused in the case - Rajaiah, his wife Madhavi and son Anil Kumar - are already in judicial custody.
 

According to Sarika's family, her husband Anil had been maintaining a close relationship with Sana, who was found missing from her home in Hyderabad after the news of the death of Sarika and her three sons spread.

In a police complaint, Sarika's parents had alleged Anil was "illegally" living with Sana.

Sarika and her three sons were found charred to death at Rajaiah's house at Hanamkonda here on November 4.

Four days after the incident, Congress suspended Rajaiah from the party.

The accused were booked under IPC and CrPC Sections related to cruelty, abetment to suicide and suspicious death.
