Woman hurt while trying to board moving train,dies at hospital

A 45-year-old woman died after she suffered serious injuries while trying to board a moving train at suburban Borivali station, police said today.

Ramleelaben Ashokbhai Patel (45) slipped and fell while trying to board the the general second class compartment of the Saurashtra Janta Express, which runs between Mumbai and Jamnagar in Gujarat, yesterday evening.

"Luckily she got stuck between platform's railing and track, before onlookers shouted and loco-pilot applied brakes," Western Railway Chief PRO Ravindra Bhakar said.

Government Railway Police, RPF and some porters rescued Patel who was seriously injured in the incident.

Patel's family members and police rushed her to B R Ambedkar Hospital at Mumbai Central where she succumbed to her injuries yesterday, police said, adding that the body was handed over to her family members.
 

According to an officer attached to Boriwali police station, Patel was going to Balsad in Gujarat with her husband.
