Woman immolates herself at lord Shiva temple

A 22-year-old woman, who claimed to be a devotee of lord Shiva, allegedly immolated herself at a temple of the deity here, police said today.

Anisha immolated herself in the temple premises last evening at around 5 PM after pouring kerosene oil, police said.

She was living in Pataudi city and was a post graduate student at a private college in Rewari. The woman was reportedly influenced by lord Shiva.

"On Friday, she came for worship here and later set herself on fire. Priest of temple tried to save her and informed the police, but she had already sustained50-60 per cent burn injuries.
 

"She was taken to hospital but later succumbed to her injuries," ACP-Manish Sehgal (PRO) Gurgaon Police told PTI.

A suicide note was recovered from the spot in which she wrote, "in this birth I could not meet you lord Shiv, but in next birth, I surely would meet you", the officer said.

We are investigating the case, he said, adding the body has been sent for post mortem.
