A 25-year-old woman was injured after falling off a train allegedly when she was attacked this evening by unknown miscreants who tried to rob her, police said.
According to police, the victim was travelling on board the New Delhi-bound Janata Express when she was attacked near Belur station this evening.
She reportedly tried to stave off the attackers, numbering four to five who, however, managed to snatch her purse before pushing her off the train, police said.
The woman has been admitted in a serious condition in a private hospital in Kolkata, police said, adding that they were probing the case from all likely angles, including the possibility that an attempt was made to molest the victim.
