In a Bollywood style rescue operation, police swung into action and saved the life of a woman who jumped off her third floor flat after a quarrel with her husband.

Mahima Bhandari lives in a third floor flat of a high rise in Punjabi Bagh area while her husband Deepak resides separately at some other locality due to some legal issues, police said.

"Today, Deepak went to his wife's flat to talk to her, but they had heated argument. During the fight, Mahima went to the balcony and threatened her husband that she would jump off the building," a senior police officer said.

Seeing the couple quarrelling, locals informed police following which a PCR van led by sub-inspector Sukhbeer Singh arrived there.

When Mahima was threatening to jump off the floor, Singh and his team become alert and immediately asked some locals to bring some blankets. Singh along with constable Devi Sahai, PCR van driver Ajay Singh and a local spread the blanket as net, the officer said.

Suddenly, Bhandari jumped off the floor but she landed on the blanket held by Singh and three others and her life was saved.

"The woman was rescued. She did not receive any injury but the sub-Inspector sprained his shoulder during the operation," officer further added.
