A 26-year-old woman was killed on the spot, while her friend suffered minor injuries, when the car in which they were travelling hit a road divider and turned turtle in South Delhi's Hauz Khas area, police said today.
The incident happened last night at around 11 PM when the driver identified as Avtar (37), a Jalandhar native, was returning from a party at Shahpur Jat with his friend, Sonia, who hailed from UP.
According to police, both the occupants were suspectedly drunk at the time of the incident. They were on their way to South extension.

"It seems, he lost control over the steering and the car hit the divider. The car was in such a high speed that it further went on to hit the footpath, even as Avtar tried taking a turn and turned turtle. Sonia was not wearing a seat belt, and her head rammed on to the windscreen following which she died on the spot," said a senior police official.
"However Avtar was wearing a seat belt. He sustained minor bruises," the official added.
The two had reportedly had met 15 days ago and were returning from a party and were drunk. ]
"We have registered a case of rash and negligent driving causing death against Avtar and further probe is on," the official added.
