Woman killed by estranged husband in Raj

A 32-year-old woman was killed allegedly by her estranged husband over some personal issue here, police said today.

The victim identified as Geeta was last night killed with a sharp-edged weapon during a scuffle between her husband Bhagwan Singh and Kalaam, the man she was living with, Station House Officer of Mahaveernagar police station, Bhanwar Singh said.

Her body was recovered last night from near Medical College on Aarogya Bhawan road near her residence, he said.

Having abandoned her husband several years ago without obtaining divorce, Geeta had been living with Kalaam and used to beg for livelihood, the SHO said.
 

The body has been kept in the mortuary of Maharao Bhim Singh hospital and postmortem would be conducted after the victim's father arrives, he said.

An FIR has been registered under section 302 (murder) of the IPC against Bhagwan who is on run, while Kalaam has been detained for questioning.
