Several people today ransacked some BSF installations after a woman was killed in firing by the border guarding force targeting a group of cattle smugglers near the Indo-Bangla border in Sipahijala district today, police said.
A border patrol team of BSF noticed a group of people at Tarapukur village trying to smuggle cattle into Bangladesh and ordered them to stop. They, however, kept on heading towards the neighbouring country after which the border guarding personnel opened fire on them, police said.
Later during search, BSF troopers found the bullet-riddled body of a 24-year-old woman, identified as Maya Khatun, SP (Police Control) Uttam Bhowmick said.

Bhowmick said angry villagers ransacked some BSF installations under Dhanpur border outpost in Sonamura subdivision.
Sipahijala SP is camping in the area with additional forces to ease the tension. The situation is now under control, he said.
