A 32 year-old woman was killed when she jumped off a moving jeep out of scare when the vehicle's axle broke, while returning from Kodachadri hills near Kundapur, police said.

The deceased has been identified as Savitha, a government employee at Kasaragod in Kerala.

Police said Savitha, along with her husband Biju and six others from Thrissur had been to Kodachadri. On their way back from the hills, the axle of the jeep broke and the scared woman jumped off the vehicle yesterday.

Her husband also jumped to rescue her, but the rear side of the jeep hit her head.

They took the woman, who was profusely bleeding, to a nearby hospital, but she died on the way.
