A 60-year-old woman was killed and six were injured in a clash between two groups over lighting a bonfire in Siddhartnagar district, police said today.

The incident happened last night when one group objected to the other lighting a bonfire on the road, they said.

This led to a clash in which both sides opened fire, attacked each other with lathis and indulged in brick-batting, police said.

Three persons from one side and four from the other were injured in the incident. One Vilayta Devi (60) succumbed to her injuries in hospital, police said.
