A man was today allegedly
bludgeoned to death by his wife during a domestic quarrel here in Prakasam district, police said.
The deceased has been identified as Shaik Mohammad Rafi (40), husband of Reshma (35), police said.
The incident occurred this afternoon when the couple had a fight after Rafi suspected Reshma's character, following which Rafi reportedly poured kerosene on her and tried to burn her, Ongole sub-divisional police officer (SDPO) G Srinivasa Rao said.
Reshma, in turn, hit him with a pestle, in which he suffered serious head injuries, he said.
Rafi was rushed to a hospital, where doctors declared him dead, the SDPO said.
A case has been registered in this connection, he said, adding further investigation is on.
