Woman kills mother-in-law

A pregnant woman in Nalla Sopara locality here was arrested for allegedly killing her mother-in -law, police said today.

The incident took place yesterday when four-month pregnant Chandni Patwa (25) allegedly attacked her mother-in- law Urmila (56) with a knife at their residence in Nalla Sopara East over a heated argument, an official at Nalla Sopara police station said.

Police said Chandani lived with her husband Jayprakash, 35, and in-laws. But soon after the marriage, she and her mother-in-law started having frequent quarrels.

Yesterday, both the women again had a heated argument over some issue and Urmila reportedly kicked Chandani in her abdomen.
 

Soon after it, when the neighbours came to know about the altercation, intervened and tried to pacify the situation. After the neighbours left, the accused picked up a knife and attacked her mother-in-law.

Urmila, who sustained severe injuries, was rushed to a nearby hospital where the doctors declared her brought dead.

Chandani's husband and father-in-law were not at the home when the incident took place.

Police said the woman has been charged under IPC section 302 (murder) and further probe into the matter is on.
