A 25-year-old woman committed suicide by immolating herself after she set her two minor children afire at their house, police said today.
Lalita poured kerosene on herself as well as on her two and a half-year-old daughter Anjali and one-year-old son Arpit inside the house in a village last night and set them ablaze, SHO Phulia Ajit Singh said.
The victim's husband Rajkumar Mali, was standing outside the house and rushed to rescue them and tried to douse the flames, the SHO said.
They were rushed to a local hospital where the children were declared dead and the woman succumbed to her burn injuries, the SHO said.
Primary investigation indicates that there was some domestic dispute between the couple which led the victim to take the extreme step, he said, adding, that the bodies were handed over to family members after postmortem.
