A 27-year-old woman, who allegedly used to extort money from boys after threatening to implicate them in rape cases, was arrested from outskirts of the city today.

"The woman, hailing from Kolkata, has lodged six cases of rape and molestation in separate police stations in the past nine months," Deputy Commissioner of Police Amandeep Singh Kapoor said.

Last night, she entered a house where four boys lived and demanded money from them by threatening that she would lodge a rape case against them if they did not comply with her demand, the police officer said.

When the boys asked her to leave, she called the police alleging she has been held hostage in the house located in Sanganer area on the outskirts of the city.

When police reached the scene, the boys were standing outside the house and told the cops that the woman was blackmailing them and was vandalising the house.

"She was taken to the police station and the medical examination confirmed she was drunk.

"During initial probe, the woman admitted she had been targeting boys to extort money," the DCP said, adding she had been arrested.

She was produced in a court which sent her to jail for 15 days.
