Woman lawyer drowns at Bhedaghat while trying to save brother

In a tragic incident, a woman drowned in the Narmada river in a bid to save her brother who fell into water while clicking selfies at Bhedaghat waterfalls in the district today.

Vinita (29), the deceased, hailed from Hathras in Uttar Pradesh and was a practising lawyer, police said.

The incident took place when Vinita and her brother Vinayak were clicking selfies on a rock this afternoon, said Jitendra Yadav, Bhedaghat police station in-charge.

"Vinayak lost his balance and fell into the waterfall. Vinita jumped into water to save him. While some local people saved Vinayak, she was swept away in current," the officer said.
 

Divers fished out her body some distance away, he said.
