A woman and her 31-year-old lover have been arrested for allegedly kidnapping and murdering her husband here, police said today.

The deceased, Amit Kumar, worked as a driver with New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) and lived with his wife Barkha and other family members at south Delhi's Sarojini Nagar area.

Police said Barkha filed a complaint at Sarojini Nagar police station alleging that her husband Amit was abducted and a ransom call was received on September 7.

During investigation, police questioned the family members of Amit and found out that he had a strained relationship with his wife as he suspected her of having an illicit affair with his colleague Satveer.

A police officer said several contradictions were noticed in Barkha's version of Amit's disappearance and her complaint was found doubtful.

Police picked up Satveer and Barkha and grilled them during which the former admitted his hand in abduction and murder of Amit.

The body of Amit was recovered from Bahadurgarh in Haryana.

The accused duo were arrested yesterday after they admitted getting Amit drunk, taking him to Bahadurgarh in a car and killing him by crushing his head with the vehicle, said the officer.

He said, on the night of September 6 Satveer visited Amit's place in his car and both consumed alcohol.

Afterwards, the accused took him in the car to Bahadurgarh and they ran him over crushing his head to make his identification difficult, said the officer.
