A woman went missing after a cloudburst hit Maroragaon village even as debris from landslides blocked the chardham yatra route at several places.

The cloudburst occurred in Maroragaon village in Pauri's Pabaun block at around 5 PM yesterday, razing to the ground a shop and five cowsheds, the state emergency operation centre here said today.

A woman is missing since then and some livestock are feared trapped in the rubble, it said.

Rescue teams, assisted by villagers, are searching for the woman and the trapped livestock, the emergency operation centre said.

Seven members of a family were killed in Markhola village of the same block of the district following a cloudburst on August 20.

It has been raining heavily in isolated parts of Uttarakhand for the past few days with brief let-ups in between with nearly hundred rural motorable roads in 13 districts still blocked by debris from landslides.

The chardham yatra routes are also blocked at places, affecting the annual pilgrimage.

The Rishikesh-Kedarnath national highway remains also blocked near Doliyadevi Mandir and efforts are underway to reopen it, officials said.

However, the trek route from Ground to the Himalayan shrine is still open.

The Oshkosh-Mantra highway is open for vehicular traffic only up to Nouakchott.
