A woman was allegedly molested and her husband beaten up by a group of people in New Town in North 24 Parganas here, police said today.
The couple was going back home on their motorcycle yesterday when the group apprehended them and molested the woman. They also beat up her husband when he tried to resist their attempts, DCDD of Bidhannagar Commissionerate division, West Bengal Police, Kankar Basu said.
One person identified as Surojit Naskar has been arrested in this connection. However, Naskar's mother has lodged a counter FIR alleging that her son had been beaten up by the couple, he added.
