In a suspected case of honour-killing, a 21-year-old woman was murdered allegedly by her brother for eloping with a member of another caste here, police said today.
Bhagwati was last night strangled by her brother Kuldeep Rajput, after she came to her parents' house here, Neemuch Additional Superintendent of Police Rakesh Kumar Sager said.
She had eloped with a bus conductor, who belonged to another caste, around six days ago, from Semali Chandrawat village near here, Sager said.
According to the officer, "This is a case of honour-killing".
"We got the information (about the murder) this morning and have sent her body for postmortem," the ASP said.
A case under section 302 (murder) of IPC was registered against Rajput, police said, adding he has been apprehended.
