Woman murdered by husband, in-laws over dowry

A woman was allegedly murdered by her husband and in-laws for dowry at Kherikermu village in Shamli district, police said today.

The woman was found dead yesterday hanging from a ceiling fan in the house following which her father lodged a complaint against six people, including her in-laws and husband, Kunwarpal, police said.

The in-laws claimed that she had committed suicide, they said.

The body has been sent for postmortem, they further said.

Meanwhile, in another incident, a man and his father were arrested yesterday for allegedly killing his wife for dowry at Bhuraheri village under Purkazi police station, police said.
 

Wasim, and his father, Hashim, were arrested for killing, Gulista by hanging her from a ceiling fan for dowry on November 28, they said.

She was admitted to the hospital in a serious condition where she died on December 3.

The remaining seven accused in the case are absconding, police said.
