Woman murdered by in-laws, husband held

A man and four of his family members were arrested today for allegedly killing his 24-year-old wife over dowry demand at a village in Krishna district, police said.

The incident took place at Barumkula village of Krishna district in July but came to light after the accused confessed to the crime in police custody yesterday, Avanigadda DySP Syed Khadar Basha said.

Varalakshmi was allegedly killed by her in-laws P Brahamneswara Rao and Nagapushpalatha, husband P Shiva Vamsi Krishna, sister-in law Sowjanya and brother-in-law P Sathyakumar on July 3 over dowry demands.

The accused had buried the body on outskirts of the village, the officer said, adding the body was exhumed yesterday.
 

The accused in-laws was against the love marriage of their son, a professional photographer based in Hyderabad, and the victim Varalakshmi in 2012. After sometime they began pressurising her to get dowry, he said.

All the five accused were produced before the local court today.
