Meera alias Sarita Kolha (20), allegedly involved in several Naxal-related crimes in the district, was apprehended from near village Rekhenar under Kasansur police station limits, police said.

A police team conducting routine anti-Naxal search operation spotted Kolha and a man in the forest. The team chased and nabbed Kolha, but the man accompanying her managed to escape, they said.

Inquiry revealed that the woman was a member of Kasansur dalam (armed unit of Maoists). The man who ran off was identified as Ramesh Gawde, a self-styled Deputy Commander of the dalam, police said.

The woman was involved in planting of explosives in Kasansur market on August 15 and murder of Gajanan Madavi, a village representative, among other incidents, they said.
