Woman naxal held in Gadchiroli

A woman naxal, carrying a cash reward of Rs six lakh on her head, was today arrested in Gadchiroli district of Maharashtra, police said.

The rebel identified as Aruna Punai Debsingh Netam (24), who was the self-styled deputy commander of Tipagarh Dalam in Dhanora tehsil in the district, was arrested by a combing team of Gadchiroli police.

She had been active as a naxal member since the past 15 years and was involved in various encounters and attacks on police parties since 2011, a statement issued by police said here.

Several cases have been registered against her in different police stations, it added.
