A 30-year-old woman, lodged in jail number 6 of Tihar prison, today allegedly tried to commit suicide by hanging herself.
Another inmate reported the matter to the security guards and the woman was rushed to the Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital, officials said.
She later returned to the jail after being discharged and was sent for counselling, they said.
The woman, identified as Parminder, is reportedly serving a life sentence in a murder case. She was reported to be depressed for the past few days as no one from her family had come to meet her for a very long time.
