A 38-year old woman professor was today found charred to death with throat slit in her house at Irugur on the city outskirts, police said.
Latha, a government arts college professor, was found dead with smoke emanating from her bedroom by a neighbour who peeped into the house as it remained locked this morning unsually, they said.
The woman's husband had deserted her some time ago.
Police said they suspect miscreants, who might have entered the house in the early hours, murdered her and then burnt the body. Further investigation was on.
