Woman railway passenger relieved of cash, valuables

A woman lost 20 sovereigns of gold ornaments and cash, including foreign currency, while travelling by a train from Chennai to here today, police said.

56-year old Santhya Stalin, working as a teacher in New Zealand, had boarded the Cheran Express last night and fallen asleep with the valuables in her hand bag. When she woke up in the wee hours, she found the valuables missing from the bag.

On her arrival in the city, the woman, on her way here to visit her brother, lodged a complaint with the Railway Police, who are investigating the matter, police said.
