The incident took place yesterday at Alipur area and the victim has been identified as Ram (32). The accused Ranjit surrendered before police.
Ranjit wanted to marry Ram's wife Pinki and had proposed to her many times but she rejected it, a senior police official said.
Last night, Ranjit allegedly took Ram on the pretext of showing him a rented accommodation. He took him to Alipur where they had an argument over the issue and in a fit of rage, Ranjit allegedly stabbed Ram several times.
"Ranjit had been with the dead body whole night. This morning, he got frightened and surrendered before to police," the official said.
