A woman research scholar allegedly committed suicide at the Forest Research Institute here, police said today.

28-year-old Manisha Rana, a student of junior research fellowship at the institute, was found hanging in her room by the hostel authorities yesterday.

According to FRI hostel authorities, Rana, who was married, did not come out of her room for two consecutive days giving rise to suspicion, police said.

When they broke into her room that was locked from inside, she was found hanging from the ceiling, they said.

A suicide note has been recovered from the spot in which the girl has held herself responsible for the extreme step, police said.
