A woman was allegedly robbed after being offered a sedative by an autorickshaw driver and then thrown off in east Delhi's New Ashok Nagar area, police said today.

The incident happened on the intervening night of October 30 and 31. The woman had boarded an autorickshaw from near Kondli Pul to go towards her home in Khichdipur, the police said.

A few minutes after boarding the three-wheeler, she asked the driver, identified as one Pankaj, to stop since she wanted to buy a water bottle.

"He did not stop but offered her his bottle that had coconut water," they said.

She lost her consciousness and was robbed and dumped near Kondli Pul. A passerby informed the police and she was taken to the Lal Bahadur Shastri Hospital.

She narrated the incident to the police after regaining consciousness, they said.

The autorickshaw driver, a resident of Trilokpuri, was arrested. His associate is absconding, the police said.

The autorickshaw and the bottles in which the sedative was given to her were seized, they said, adding a case was registered in this regard.
