Police resorted to baton charge to scare away a mob protesting death of a housewife at Purulia town today.

A mob first vanadalised the property of Choudhury's, the woman's in-laws, and set furnitures on fire after the burnt body of the woman was found, police said.

As the crowd didnot allow to remove the body, police baton charged them.

A police picket was posted in the area.

SP Nilkanth Sudhirkumar said an inquiry has been ordered.
