Woman's murder takes new twist, now husband commits suicide

The Chitra murder case in which a 20-year-old married woman's bare body was found on February 20 here took a new turn today with her husband allegedly committing suicide.

Subhash allegedly hanged himself from a tree near the house of his in-laws, police said.

The body has been sent for post mortem and police said they suspected it to be case of suicide.

Tikender Panwar, Deputy Mayor of the Shimla Municipal Corporation and chairman of its Social Justice Committee, demanded a high-level probe into Chitra's death and the events that followed the shocking incident.

Panwar said the Social Justice Committee had suo moto conducted an enquiry into the death of Chitra and suspected it could be part of a flesh trade racket in which outsiders were also involved.
 

He said the report was submitted to the Himachal High Court Chief Justice with request for a high-level probe into the matter.
