A day after the skeleton of an elderly woman was found at her home at Haringhata in Nadia district, nine months after her death, police today sent the remains for test.
Additional SP, Nadia, Abhijit Singh said, "The skeleton has been sent for postmortem but the two sons, who had kept their mother's body for nine months, were not detained."
Police registered a case under IPC 176 (omission to give notice or information to public servant by person legally bound to give it) & 269 (negligent act likely to spread infection of disease dangerous to life) in the incident, he said.

The two middle-aged men kept their mother's body, which gradually turned into a skeleton, at their home at Simhat under Haringhata police station in Nadia district for nine months.
The police recovered the skeleton yesterday after local people informed them and it appeared that the two sons had some psychological problems.
The police initiated a case of unnatural death.
The unmarried sons, 65-year-old Arun Saha and Ajit Saha (55), told the police that their mother Nani Bala Saha, a window, expired at the age of 85 on January 16 this year.
They said they could not take the body for cremation as it was very cold when she died and they cannot stand cold.
