Displaying exemplary courage, a 20-year-old woman saved an old man from drowning in the Ganges at Rishikesh.

Sixty-year-old Vijay Goel slipped off the staircase and fell into the river on Sunday afternoon. When he raised an alarm, second-year polytechnic student Anju, who was sitting outside her home nearby, ran down and dived into the river.

Putting her own life at risk, she managed to pull the man out of the mighty river.

Later, Goel thanked her for saving his life.

Eyewitnesses appreciated the woman for her courage and her extraordinary act of bravery.
