A 20-year-old woman, from Jewar town here, has sought police protection for her wedding alleging that her relatives have threatened to disrupt the ceremony, police said today.

"Based on the womans complaint, an FIR has been lodged," Jewar police station incharge Rajpal Singh Tomar said.

The woman, a resident of Mohalipur village, said in the FIR that she would get married on December 12. She stated that her father had died a few years ago and the match was fixed by some relatives.

She alleged that her two of her uncles were putting pressure on her brother to cancel the marriage, adding that they even assaulted and threatened him.

The woman sought police protection suspecting that they might attempt to create nuisance and cancel the wedding, Tomar said.

"Police protection will be provided to her on the day of her wedding and whenever she asks for," he added.
