A teenage girl was allegedly sold for Rs 20,000 by her stepmother to a 52-year-old man from Madhya Pradesh, police said today.
According to a complaint lodged by the 17-year-old victim, her stepmother, Virma Devi, took her, a few day ago, to Delhi, where she was sold to one Suresh Chandra, a resident of Bhind district of Madhya Pradesh.
Later, the girl escaped from Chandra's house and magaed to reach her village two days ago. She then met the Senior Superintendent of Police yesterday and lodged an FIR, they said.

The matter is being investigated, police added.
Virma is a resident of Nagla Burj village under Sakraoli police station in the district, they further said.
