Prabhawati after being thrashed by her husband Dangar Harijan, poured kerosene and set herself on fire in the village under Auraiye police station, police said.
According to police, the woman ran on Ugapur road for about 15 minutes before the locals tried to save her by dousing the fire.
Prabhawati was rushed to a hospital, where she succumbed to burn injuries, police said adding, the body has been sent for post mortem and a case registered.
Meanwhile, the locals held a protest allegeing that the woman died as police reached late and there was a delay in taking her to the hospital.
