Woman shot at by parents, uncle over affair

An 18-year-old woman was allegedly shot at by her parents and uncle as they were opposed to her affair with a man, police said on Wednesday.

Believing that the woman had died, the accused threw her in the bushes in Bahadurpur village and left, they said. The victim, however, survived the gun shot and was admitted to a hospital by some locals, they added.

In her statement before the magistrate, the woman who is a resident of Barther village, said she was shot at by her father Afroz, mother Noorjahan and uncle Ifzad as they were opposed to her relationship with Amir, a resident of Aligarh.

 

Amir was killed by the woman's family two days ago in Aligarh and an FIR was registered against them at the Civil Lines Police Station, Police Station in-charge of Malavan Vipin Kumar Tyagi said.

After killing Amir, the trio apparently planned to kill the girl, Tyagi said, adding that an FIR has been lodged and efforts were on to nab them.
