The incident took place from Lahori Gate and the deceased has been identified as Geeta Nigam who was staying alone in her first floor residence after her divorce.
Her family members got suspicious after she did not pick up telephone.
"Her elder sister lives in the third floor of the same building. She came to check her and found Geeta lying in a pool of blood," a senior police official said.
Some gold and cash were missing from the house.
