A former woman sub- divisional officer was today sentenced to four years rigorous imprisonment by a court here holding her guilty of corruption.

District and Sessions Judge R N Rokade held Shobha Raut guilty under Prevention of Corruption Act 1988 and also imposed a fine of Rs 50,000 on her.

Raut was working with the Osmanabad district collector office in 2014.

She was trapped by the ACB Osmanabad team while accepting Rs 39,200 on July 16, 2014 from a farmer identified as one Dattatraya Deshmane.

Raut had demanded the amount out of the compensation sanctioned to the seven farmers whose land was acquired by MIDC. Deshmane was one of those farmers.

After the demand for bribe by the officer, Deshmane approached the ACB and filed a complaint.

Additional government pleader Mahesh Deshmukh produced five witnesses before the court to support the prosecution's case.
